Script kiddies already trying to compile Meltdown and Spectre flaws
As soon as the snippets of concept code hit the Internet, the inevitable happened as technical forums and blogs were hit by script kiddies asking for help.
An urgent need to carry out “internal testing” and offers of help to “verify your discovery” are amongst the wild and crazy reasons why someone would need help to “fill in the dots”.
AlienVault has already detected variations of the published proof-of-concept code snippets in the wild – and like Petya and WannaCry before it, we are very likely to see a gradual build up before something gives and we get ignition across a big network of machines.
If you’re a C developer, please don’t give them a helping hand. They really, really don’t need it.
